Mobius Institute Field Lubrication Category I Course Overview
MOBIUS INSTITUTE FLCAT-I
Course Overview
Mobius Institute FLCAT-I develops the practical knowledge needed to perform field lubrication tasks correctly and consistently across industrial equipment.

Learn the fundamentals of machinery lubrication, lubricant selection and application, contamination control, storage and handling, greasing, sampling and basic oil analysis.

The course includes MLA I and MLT I topics plus additional Field Lubrication content, supported by Mobius Institute animations, simulations and the Learning Zone.

Understand lubrication fundamentals

Understand tribology, friction, wear modes, lubrication regimes, base oils, additives, thickeners and the different types of lubricants used in industry.

Select and apply lubricants correctly

Choose lubricants based on component type, viscosity, base oil and additive system, then apply oils and greases using appropriate methods, quantities and intervals.

Control contamination and monitor lubricant condition

Improve receiving, storage, dispensing, filtration, cleanliness, sampling and basic oil analysis practices to keep lubricants clean, dry and fit for service.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Practical Lubrication Skills
01
Lubrication Fundamentals

Understand friction, wear, lubrication regimes and the lubricant’s role in reducing friction, controlling wear and supporting machine reliability.

02
Lubricant Selection

Select lubricants using viscosity, base oil, additive system and component requirements for bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, chains and other industrial equipment.

03
Application & Greasing

Apply oils and greases correctly, use lubrication routes and estimate suitable re-grease quantities and intervals, including automatic lubrication systems.

04
Contamination Control

Recognise contamination sources, apply ISO 4406 cleanliness principles and use filtration and practical controls to keep lubricants clean and dry.

05
Storage & Handling

Improve lubricant receiving, identification, storage, transfer and dispensing practices while reducing cross-contamination and application errors.

06
Sampling & Oil Analysis

Use representative sampling practices, monitor lubricant health and understand the basics of wear debris and wear particle analysis.
